Ericksonian Hypnotherapy
Why is Ericksonian Hypnotherapy so effective?
Behavior and reactions are mainly driven by unconscious motives. These motives arose during past events that shaped and / or influenced our identity, beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. Our character fixation is crystallized during painful and defining childhood events. Hypnotherapy enters the domain of the unconscious. In addition to motives, emotions and patterns, this domain also contains qualities and resources. In a hypnotherapy session you consciously connect with these resources, which you can then use to transform destructive habits into the art of whole and healthy living. You may discover unknown qualities and can then determine what you want to keep and what to let go. During a hypnosis session you will experience an energetic change in your body, thinking and feeling that will affect your future.
How Ericksonian Hypnotherapy differs from other forms of counseling or therapy / treatment?
Counseling & coaching and CTG (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) take place in the domain of the conscious and can provide valuable insights. However, because most of our experiencing, interpreting and reacting are unconsciously controlled, the unconscious is also the area in which profound change can take place. By means of hypnotherapy, the person seeking help is able to reach, experience, investigate and change what is held in this unconscious domain.
Does Ericksonian Hypnotherapy require more or fewer sessions than other forms of therapy to achieve the client's goal?
It has been my experience that fundamental experience and change can occur in just one session of hypnotherapy. In one session something can change in the chemistry of the body, emotions and reaction patterns. But I have seen more often that at least a few sessions are needed for embodied integration. Whether more or fewer sessions are required with hypnotherapy than with other forms of therapy, usually CBT, is partly determined by the client's situation and their experiences in the field of self-examination of emotions, feelings, thoughts, behavior and body experience. Just when the client seems to have reached a limit with CBT, hypnotherapy can take her / him further. Provided of course that is what the client wants.
How many sessions is recommended to achieve a meaningful change?
This question can only be answered if we take a closer look at the request for help. The motivation to change is of great importance. In addition, the integrity of the therapist and his or her skills in working with hypnotherapy is also of relevance. Sometimes one session can be of immense benefit but generally speaking a minimum of 3 sessions is recommended, also to give the proces a chance to succeed. The first session os normally used to make acquaintance with one another. The request for help, desire for change and any concerns of the person seeking help are discussed. The person seeking help can experience being in a trance and feel whether this is something he of she would like to explore further. A second session serves to delve deeper into what is actually going and to discover what is needed to move towards further healing and integration of experience. These sessions provide reinforcement of what has been and is still being learned. The straling point for the work and guiding thread for continuing is closely linked to what it is the clients wants: attention is always given to this.
